Update for this afternoon's storms

Things are looking a bit more interesting for the Greater Houston area this afternoon, and we might end up seeing some locally strong storms and brief street flooding. The soils in the region are not that saturated and will be able to handle at least a few inches, but rainfall rates in heavier storms could lead to areas that typically see a little street flooding to have some brief issues. Areas that see the heavier downpours today will be more susceptible of flash flooding tomorrow were thunderstorms redevelop.

Along with the rain, stronger storms that develop will have a lot of lightning along with brief very gusty winds. Not all areas will see the strong winds.

Farther east in LA, no big changes with a lot less intense thunderstorm potential.
