Tricky forecast

Much like yesterday, we have a small disturbance moving into SE TX which is the leftovers from last nights strong thunderstorms over Central TX. These little disturbances are hard for the models to resolve, so the forecast is a bit tricky regarding extent and timing of any thunderstorms this afternoon. There should be enough heating and extra lift from the disturbance to allow for a least a few widely scattered thunderstorms this afternoon over SE TX. Southern LA still looks mostly dry; however. But, can't completely rule out an isolated shower or storm.
Thunderstorms that pop up this afternoon or early this evening could contain briefly frequent lightning, heavy rainfall and gusty winds. They won't be long lived or widespread. Thunderstorm coverage will be around 20-30%.
Mostly dry weather will settle in tomorrow and continue through the holiday weekend. Dew point temperatures will trend downward slightly thanks to high pressure building in from the northeast, so that will make the morning's and evening's somewhat nice...for May anyway.
