Thunderstorms Likely

After some really heavy rain just northwest of Beaumont yesterday along with damaging winds and hail on the north side of Houston, we are looking at another stormy day across SE TX and S LA.
Thankfully, damaging wind gusts and hail or less likely today, although can't rule out an isolated severe thunderstorm with gusty winds. The attention turns more toward flash flooding. By late morning, showers and storms should start to move into the Greater Houston area (generally a southwest to northeast movement) with high thunderstorm chances through early afternoon. Showers and a few storms could linger over some areas through the evening, but heavier storms will occur earlier in the day. Heavier storms could drop a quick 1-2 inches and where slow moving storms linger, locally 3-5 inches of rain will be possible.
Farther east over Cajun Country, it might take a little longer for showers and storms to bubble up, but look for widespread coverage of showers and storms this afternoon which could linger through early evening. Heavy rainfall won't be widespread, but some spots could get a quick 2-4 inches of rain.
Lingering disturbances will be a catalyst for more storms tomorrow. Exact location and timing is a bit uncertain, but locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding will remain a concern and bayou/stream flooding could become an issue over areas that get heavier rain today and again tomorrow.
