Temps climbing

The models continue to be a little too warm with their forecast for the Houston area, but temperatures in Lafayette were actually a little above the forecast. Either way, it looks like we are headed towards highs in the upper 90s today throughout the region. Afternoon highs should climb 2-3 degrees over the weekend with no significant rain chances in sight as the corridor of showers and storms remains just off to the north. Can't rule out a stray storm over northern portions of Acadiana, but that risk is pretty low.

The ridge of high pressure responsible for the heat should remained anchored in place next week, but a low pressure system could develop and put just enough of a dent in it to allow for a few showers and storms. I think that risk would hold off until the later half of next week, but I wouldn't count on any rain at this point.
