Strong storms possible this evening and tonight

Clouds and light rain will slide through SE TX this morning which are leftovers from some strong storms over the Hill Country. This could be a focus of storms over LA this afternoon once we get some heating going, but its uncertain where that will take place.

Afternoon heating, along with the sea breeze front pushing inland could lead to a few isolated thunderstorms this afternoon, but all the attention will need to be on the current thunderstorms over the ArklaTex region and additional storms that will fire near and south of Dallas this afternoon. This activity will spread south or southeastward and impact the portions of the I-10 corridor from Houston to Lafayette this evening or tonight. This activity won't effect everywhere from Lafayette to Houston, but one or two bands or clusters will spread through. Depending on the timing, this activity could be weakening. The later in the night, the better chance of it weakening. Vice versa is true, however. In general though, strong wind gusts in excess of 50mph, lightning and heavy downpours will be possible in the stronger storms. The winds gusts are really going to be the thing to watch out for.

Currently, the north and east side of the greater Houston area to Beaumont has the greatest risk of impact from storms, but it could be anywhere from Katy through Henderson.
