Still no relief in site

The broken record continues and I'm not seeing any significant breaks in this ridge of high pressure. It is weakening a bit through the week, but will strengthen back this week and into next week. The latest forecast calls for the hottest day to be Saturday with temps up around 103F in Lafayette and 104-105F in Houston. It could easily be a couple degrees warmer or cooler.

I was looking at how this year compared to the brutal 2011 (very hot and dry) and there are certainly some similarities in the heat and rainfall data. However, 2011 was much drier (so far). However, 2023 (at least when comparing July) has been hotter. Hopefully we turn that around in August (not looking promising). Below are a few rainfall comparison maps. I added 2013 too as it was very dry. You can see we are no where near the epic drought in 2011.
