Splash and dash for Houston...still humid and warm

There's been some overnight shower activity across the Houston area, and there should scattered shower development this afternoon. Showers will move quickly from north to south but could contain some brief periods of heavy rain. Isolated thunderstorms are possible which would lead to locally heavier rain and occasional lightning. Areas west of 288 and I-45 will have the best chance of rain today. For tomorrow, daytime heating should spark a few showers and isolated thunderstorms which could lead to some brief heavy rainfall. The coverage will be a bit less than today, but depending on how much afternoon heating we get, thunderstorms could potentially be a little stronger.

Farther east, Acadiana will remain mostly dry. Although, isolated passing showers are possible both today and tomorrow.

The weekend still looks mostly dry, humid and very warm throughout the I-10 corridor from SE TX through southern LA. Big changes remain in the forecast for next week as a strong cold front will dive through Sunday night / early Monday over Houston and Monday morning over Acadiana. In fact, afternoon high temperatures over the middle of next week could be near 20 degrees colder than this week's morning lows. If you average out this week and next week, you'll basically get normal temperatures. lol. That's weather. Average is not average, just a mix of extremes. Kind of like politics. Anyway, look for temperatures to drop on Monday with very gusty northerly winds. Winds will remain gusty through Wednesday, and with a lot of clouds still around, things will feel very chilly. It will probably feel like its in the 40s for Trick or Treating Tuesday evening.

Turning back towards rain, there likely won't be much right along the front as it pushes through, but there is a lot of Pacific moisture and upper level energy back behind the front which should lead to a good chance of rain Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. It does look like rain will shut off for Trick or Treating, but that could change. Still too early to be too confident. Also, rain should be mostly light to moderate in nature, especially over Acadiana. Farther west, over Texas, there could be pockets of heavier rain.

Soak up the warm weather while you can! God Bless
