Some changes...but still hot

Lafayette hit triple digits again yesterday, but Houston broke the hundred degree streak thanks to clouds and a few showers from the outer edge of Tropical Storm Harold's moisture. Some areas were lucky enough to get a tenth or a quarter of an inch of rain.
More sun and heat cranks back up over southeast Texas today, and more of the same for Acadiana. Afternoon highs will over 100F today for much of the area and a degree or two hotter tomorrow (yikes). But, there will be an isolated shower or storm this afternoon and a little better chance of a few showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon. It will still be very hot, but just as birds start to ignite in mid air, a few storms will pop and provide some lucky souls with some relief. The few storms that do develop will likely have some gusty winds with them. Rain will be heavy, but brief so don't expect any real drought relief.
Temperatures will trend a tad lower Friday and over the weekend as the ridge start to break down a bit, and look for the daily risk of isolated showers and thunderstorms. Monday might be the last really hot day as models show a weak front sagging in next Tuesday which will lead to higher rain chances and lower afternoon highs through the rest of the week. That's still a ways away, but we can hope for the best.
Looking a the tropics, there are some shenanigans going around, but nothing that the Texas and Louisiana coast need to worry about. Its that time of year though to keep a close eye on things.
