Small chance of relief in Acadiana

Models have backed off a bit on showing a few showers and thunderstorms over eastern portions of Acadiana this afternoon/evening, but I still think there remains a 10-15% chance of areas east of Crowley seeing a storm. A little better chances lie closer to Baton Rouge. Most places will stay hot and dry. No real chance for any rain over Houston today, but the humidity is slightly lower than it has been.
In general, look for afternoon highs to average a degree lower or hold steady through tomorrow with a more steady drop over the weekend and into next week as the ridge of high pressure breaks down. Afternoon highs will still be plenty hot, but just not as far above normal.
I'm still watching those rain chances close and it looks like Sunday afternoon/evening is when we will start seeing an appreciable chance of rain. Right now, it looks to be about 20% for most areas. Rain chances will climb Monday through Wednesday as moisture levels rise and the influence of the high pressure ridge fades. Daily rain chances will fluctuate between 30-50% through much of next week. Timing and coverage will become more clear over the weekend.
