Rain chances going up...temps down

A weak front sliding into the region and weak disturbances rolling in from the west will lead to elevated rain chances this afternoon and again tomorrow. Decent rain chances will continue Friday and Saturday, but they will be on a decreasing trend Friday and through the weekend as drier air moves in.

Best rain chances will come this afternoon and again tomorrow morning/afternoon (mostly late morning for Houston and afternoon for Acadiana). Rainfall amounts will be very sporadic, with many areas getting 0.10 to 0.75 inch and others getting 2-4 inches where heavier thunderstorms develop. Heavier thunderstorms could also produce some gusty winds and frequent lightning, but the risk of severe thunderstorms will be pretty low with this set up.

Temperatures will thankfully take a hit with these elevated rain chances. Today will still be pretty hot, but highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s tomorrow and Friday. Temperatures will be pretty normal for mid September Saturday and Sunday, then drier air will spread in Monday and early next week leading to some more pleasant morning and evening temperatures.
