Looking wetter

Thicker clouds have settled in over Southeast TX and a few passing showers are possible this morning. Rainfall shouldn't amount to much. Late this afternoon and this evening still holds the low possibility of showers and thunderstorms as activity fires over central Texas and drifts eastward. Most areas will likely miss out, but the few that get storms could see some brief periods of heavy rain and a little lightning. A similar set up is expected through the the weekend with storm chances inching up. Best chances of showers and storms will be late in the day and through the evening; although, light morning showers will be possible as well.
Farther east, high pressure holding a firmer grip and a little drier air in place will keep rain chances even lower over south LA today and tonight. Rain chances will pick up tomorrow afternoon with the daily risk of a few showers and thunderstorms through the weekend...and probably the rest of the month (slight sarcasm....just slight).
As advertised before, look for the humidity to really crank up today and tomorrow. In the next 24 hours, dew point temperatures (good measurement for moisture) will jump 10 degrees over the Houston area and 15 degrees over Lafayette/Opelousas. Heat index values will start ratcheting up a good 5-10 degrees above actual temps in the afternoons. Hydration will be super important for weekend outdoor activities.
