Isolated storms today, more stormy this weekend

Acadiana will see a few afternoon showers and storms today with the activity more isolated in nature over SE TX. That will continue to be the story for Cajun Country through Mother's Day, but thins get a little more interesting over Houston starting early tomorrow morning. Strong storms will plow through the Hill Country tonight and could maintain some intensity as they spread into areas west of Houston. Its uncertain if they'll make it to the I-45 corridor, but if they do, they will be capable of brief heavy rain, gusty winds and a little lightning...likely nothing too strong. Depending on how things shake out tomorrow morning, where afternoon heating can interact with the disturbance that sparks tonight's storms, there will be some redevelopment. Much higher storm chances will exist from Corpus Christi to San Antonio, but there should be a good scattering of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon. Again, it will really depend on how things shake out tomorrow morning. If more clouds and rain linger, it will be tougher for storms to redevelop in the afternoon. Severe thunderstorms aren't expected to be a big concern, but an isolated strong storm or two could produce some gusty winds, frequent lightning and locally heavy rain. Things look less wet on Mother's day in Houston, but with some heating and lingering moisture, they'll likely still be at least a few afternoon showers and storms around. They won't be long lived though.
