Hot, hot...hot

A ridge of high pressure building in from Mexico will bring hot and mostly dry weather to SE TX and Acadiana through much of the week. Just north of the ridge, it will be stormy, but ridge is looking strong enough to prevent any storms from getting down towards the I-10 corridor.

Temperatures topped out around 94F in Houston and 92F in Lafayette yesterday. Temperatures will probably climb a degree or two today, level off a bit tomorrow, then climb a degree or two the later half of the week. There is the potential for upper 90s over Lafayette by weeks end and around 100F in Houston. The ridge does weaken a little late this week, so there could be a few isolated showers and storms to provide some relief. I wouldn't count on it though.

Looking farther into the crystal ball... this weekend could be hotter with hot and dry weather likely next week. One more note...along with the heat, winds will pick up as well with afternoon gusts peaking near or a little above 20mph. We could see a return to 2022 summer weather for a least a week or two.
