Houston is in the humidity soup this morning with dew point temperatures in the 70s. Walking out the door, it feels like you can swim to your car. Look for heat index values to ramp up into the mid 90s this afternoon around Houston. Hot and humid weather will settle in through the next week...and few months. Heat lovers rejoice.
Showers and storms and a little drier air in place dropped temperatures nicely into the 60s over portions of southern LA this morning. Enjoy it while it lasts as heat and humidity will really ramp up today.
The rain lottery has begun with some spots getting nothing last night and others getting 2.5-3.5 inches (like Eunice and Opelousas). Look for more of the same through the weekend. Most folks won't see much at all, but if you do, the rain could be heavy. Timing of showers and storms will mostly be late afternoon and during the overnight hours. The earlier in the afternoon/evening you see showers and storms, the stronger they could potentially be regarding lightning and gusty winds.
