Heat really settling in

Very hot and dry weather will continue for the Houston area through the week with Tuesday through Thursday the hottest days. Highs will be up near or just above 100F. Heat index values will be peaking around 110F-113F today with a slight downward trend through Thursday as dew point temperatures and humidity could be a little lower. Hot temperatures will continue Friday and this weekend, but the ridge of high pressure will begin to break down and highs won't be quite as hot...but still in the mid to upper 90s with heat index values peaking above 100F. Rain chances will remain near 0% through Friday with a small rising trend this weekend and more significant increase next week. We could finally get into a typical daily risk of sea breeze thunderstorm - type pattern next week. Fingers crossed.

Very similar weather is expected over Acadiana; however, the remnants of some very strong storms pushing out of north Louisiana could be enough to spark some activity this afternoon as it moves south. Its very uncertain, and the ridge of high pressure could end up squashing any storms that try to get going, but if an isolated storm or two pops up , they could become heavy and lead to brief heavy rain, gusty winds and lightning....and come briefly cooler weather. After today though, Acadiana will be very similar to Houston with hot and dry weather the rest of the week. Looking wetter as well late in the weekend and especially next week.
