Few showers and storms today

Already getting shower and thunderstorm activity over Acadiana this morning. So far, it's just been moderate to briefly heavy rain and occasional lightning. I'm not expecting any strong storms in Acadiana today. Farther west over Houston, a bit more heating could allow for the few storms that develop to become briefly strong, but nothing widespread is expected. Strong winds and frequent lightning could accompany stronger cells.

It's very uncertain the timing and extent of showers and storms tomorrow, but they'll be a general 40% chance over Acadiana and 20% in the Houston area. There could be a disturbance moving in from the northwest that could greatly effect rain chances tomorrow, so we'll have to keep an eye on that.

After tomorrow, the heat and mostly dry weather will settle back in. Heat should peak over the middle of next week with highs near 100F. Models hint at a pattern change late next week and next weekend with afternoon highs dropping and rain chances increasing as the ridge of high pressure gets shunted as a trough moves in from the north.
