Dry heat?

Rain chances are certainly looking wimpy with this cold front sliding into the area. Both the Houston area and Acadiana will have a bout a 10% chance of a pop up brief afternoon thunderstorms today. Tomorrow, its not looking much better with about a 30% chance of showers and storms, mainly near and south of I-10 ahead of the cold front during the mid to late afternoon and early evening hours. Any storms that pop should be brief but could be heavy with gusty winds.
There will be some drier air moving in with the front which will make the mornings and evenings feel a little better Tuesday night through Thursday (places closer to the coast won't feel much of a difference). However, afternoon highs will still be very hot, not quite as hot though. Also, it'll be a "drier" heat and heat index values won't be as high.
It does look like we'll be headed towards a more significant pattern change late in the weekend and next week as we see the flow off of the Gulf open up more leading to more normal afternoon highs and daily rain chances. This will also open the Gulf coast up to any tropical systems that may form in the western Caribbean. However, it looks like conditions will, at least initially, remain hostile enough to prevent any significant hurricane activity. I'll be watching that closely.
