Dry and hot prevails...thunderstorms are so close

The corridor of storminess will remain just off to the north (Dallas and Waco through central LA and southern MS, AL and the FL Panhandle) through the weekend with the ridge of high pressure squashing any possibly convection over Acadiana through Houston. I can't rule out the remnants of some heavier storms to the north sliding towards Opelousas and Ville Platte area late tomorrow afternoon, but the risk looks pretty low.
Hot and dry weather will continue into next week, but there are some indications today that a weak front and a weakening ridge could lead to the risk of thunderstorm over the second half of next week. We shall see.
As far as temperatures, no records are as stake... for now. Highs should be in mid 90s in both Houston and the Lafayette area today. Some spots could get into the upper 90s. Many areas will probably up near 100F over the weekend.
