Drier end of the week

...for most places anyway. Lingering moisture and afternoon heating could still lead to a few showers and storms today, but much of the I-10 corridor from Houston to Lafayette will be much drier today and tomorrow. Opelousas to Lafayette might see a big cluster of storms that will form to the north come pretty close this evening, but it looks like it'll stay off to the north and east.

This weekend looks more interesting, mainly for Texas. Big clusters of storms will fire over central Texas and spread eastward Friday night and Saturday. How far east their impacts will carry is still very uncertain. They'll be capable of strong wind gusts and heavy rain though. Latest thinking is most of the impacts will stay west of Houston through Saturday, but thunderstorms could become more likely Saturday night and Sunday.
