Deep moisture moving in but will be short lived

Showers and storms cover much of the northwestern Gulf this morning and there is one moderate to heavy batch of rain moving northeastward from the Mid Texas Coast. This feature will be the main focus of rain over the Greater Houston area later this morning and early this afternoon. Its tough to say if they'll be another round this evening, but currently it looks mostly dry with just a few showers possible. Rainfall totals in and around Houston will be around 0.25 to 1.25 inches, but a few spots could see 3-4 inches where heavier pockets of rain persists. Winds will be a little gusty in showers and thunderstorms, but nothing too bad and lightning should be isolated to occasional in nature.
It'll take a bit longer for showers and storms to move inland over Acadiana, but there should be pretty good coverage this afternoon as daytime heating interacts with the rising moisture levels. Many areas will see less than an inch of rain, but they'll be some spots that could pick up 2-3 inches in heavier storms.
Moisture levels are still expected to start dropping tomorrow, but enough will linger to allow for a good 40% coverage of morning/afternoon sea breeze showers and storms. I still expect a continued drop in rain chances and increase in afternoon temps this weekend and into next week. I don't, however, anticipate any 0% chance of rain days and heat like we saw last week.
