Cautiously optimistic

No big changes in the forecast with hot, hot, hot continuing and no rain. Houston area will see similar highs around 102-104F through Saturday then slightly lower highs Sunday into next week. Acadiana should see afternoon highs peak tomorrow and Sunday before a very slight downturn next week.
Rain is pretty much out of the question through Sunday as the ridge of high pressure strengthens over the region. A weak front does slip southward and moisture levels increase Monday and Tuesday, so rain chances will come back...mainly for Acadiana. I'm still very skeptical with rain chances around Houston. Right now it looks like around a 40% chance of rain for Acadiana and 10-20% for the Houston area. The ridge of high pressure does shift farther north mid to late next week, which should lead to more Gulf moisture moving in and the daily risk of a few showers and storms. Nothing is pointing towards any widespread rain, but the daily risk of a few sea breeze showers and storms will be better than nothing and will help keep afternoon highs averaging a bit lower.
