Break in the high heat

Acadiana finally got some good rain yesterday and that rain cooled air will help prevent it from getting as hot as it's been today. It'll still be plenty hot and humid, but just not as much. Can't rule out a few showers and storms, but better chances will be along the coast.

Farther west, the Houston area will see another scorcher today. There will; however, be a chance that remnants of some strong storms over north Texas will move in tonight. The leftover disturbance will keep the chance of showers and storms in the forecast tomorrow. I think everyone will see a good 50/50 shot at some rain. Some spots could get really heavy downpours, gusty winds and frequent lightning.

All in all, this should put a dent in the heat wave, at least for a day or two. Above normal temperatures will likely return for the weekend and next week looks really hot and mostly dry area wide.
