A rumble!

I thought something exploded or my stomach was not happy with that cookie I ate before bed, but nope...it was actually thunder this morning. No rain yet here, but south of I-10 in southeast Texas they'll be a 40% chance of a passing shower or thunderstorm. Not much drought relief, but its something. Farther east in Louisiana, coastal parishes might see a passing shower (30%), but farther north its looking mostly dry.

After today, lingering moisture could lead to an isolated shower or storm in the Houston area, but look for temperatures to rise and rain chances to drop through the end of the week. Around Acadiana, temperatures will also rise but we could see rain chances inch up a little as moisture and a very subtle disturbance moves in from the east-northeast. Thursday could be really hot, temps around 105-107F in Acadiana, but a few spots will see a thunderstorm fire in the afternoon. With temps that hot, there will be a lot of instability and any thunderstorms that develop could become strong (gusty winds/lightning).

The weekend look very hot, maybe not as hot as Thursday, and there will be the daily risk of an isolated shower or thunderstorm. The strong death ridge of high pressure should finally weaken to a more normal ridge and shift around a bit next week. This will lead to a bit more normal afternoon highs, still plenty hot, and the daily risk of a few showers and thunderstorms.
